The latest catastrophe led by the Tsunami in Palu, Indonesia, leaving more than 400 dead and hundreds of wounded, has once again clearly shown the need for a change in the types of buildings and buildings in these regions where the risks of suffering earthquakes are common and imminent, sometimes even being very difficult to predict with enough time for evacuation. [Read more…] about Reinforced concrete constructions against Tsunamis
One of the fundamental aspects when carrying out the calculation and structural design of any building is to know in detail the base where the structure will be located, the type of soil and the geotechnical character of it. This is complicated when the destination of the building is an area of high seismicity, such as, for example, a large part of Central and South America.
Secin group has been the first engineering company to implement the Jet Fans air ventilation system in Madrid, specifically in the Corazonistas basement car park, on the avenue Alfonso XIII of the capital. This particular ventilation and smoke control system, designed by Soler & Palau Ventilation Group, is based on the novel technique of longitudinal ventilation applied to the tunnels, allowing to extract the pollution and to evacuate the smoke quickly in case of fire, by means of the strategic installation of fans at air entry and exit points, thus generating the induction phenomenon and extracting the mass smoke to the outside.

In many cases, structural engineering must take into account external factors, such as earthquakes or hurricanes, which can have a decisive impact on the design and strength of structures. [Read more…] about Structural design against earthquakes
Secin Group through its engineering, EHE INGENIEROS, has developed and patented «DECK Slab», an alternative to the prefabricated elements and to the solid slabs of reinforced concrete applied in the traditional slab. This innovative technique provides a much more effective solution at an operational and economic level, [Read more…] about What is concrete “Deck” slab?
